Google+ now supports SMS support in 43 countries

Users of Google+ in the United States and India have long had the ability to post status updates and respond to comments via SMS, but Google knows that a lot more people could use these features. Today, they're announcing the addition of 41 new countries, many of which  lie in the Middle East in Africa.

Afghanistan, Algeria, Angola, Bahrain, Benin, Cambodia, Cameroon, Congo (DRC), Cote D'Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Guinea, Indonesia, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, Tunisia, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Zambia.

Users can either post new status messages, or receive alerts and respond to those to leave comments as if you were responding to a text message. You'll get new comments on those threads, as well. You'll have to enable your phone number in the Google+ settings page, and you need to make sure your carrier supports the service. For details on how to get started, head to Google India"s blog. [Thanks Raveesh!]
